Nutritional Counseling > Food Allergies
Justine's food allergies deprived her of the pleasure
that food can hold. Dinner out and parties with friends were
not as fun as they should be, and Justine felt she was missing
out. Her allergies caused her a lot of anxiety too—there
were some foods that would just upset her stomach, but others
that could cause a severe medical reaction. Allergy testing
resulted in often contradictory results. Justine worked with
our registered dietitian and was able to find the answers
she needed to learn how to enjoy food in her life instead
of letting food run her life.
Allergic reactions to food happen when your body mistakes something you have eaten for a threat to your health. As your immune system releases chemicals to fight off the dangerous food you can experience reactions including nausea, diarrhea, bloating, cramps, fatigue, and headaches. Food allergies can also affect your respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
We believe that there's a lot of misinformation out there
about food allergies that may prevent people from eating foods
that are very healthy and beneficial. That's why we work with
you as an individual, evaluating you to see what impact certain
foods are having on your system and whether you have a true
food allergy or not. We then personalize your diet plan to
make sure you're taking in the vitamins and nutrients you
need while avoiding the foods that you should not be eating.
Having food allergies doesn't have to limit your enjoyment
of food or cut down on the pleasure of dining out or attending
social events. With a little help from MinDshape you can enjoy
eating again, without the side effects.
